Darlene Cross - My Adopted Sister

  Darlene Cross

 Darlene Cross was a blessing to all who knew her.

Her strength, her care, her love, her watch over all of us and her fortitude encouraged all who met her.

Darlene Cross adopted B.C. (Bruce) Nowlin as her brother and it was a cherished, beautiful long, relationship of 35+ years.

Obituary-

Darlene C. Cross “Wanbli Mas’te Win”, 66, of Kyle, SD., passed away May 28, 2013 in Pine Ridge, SD.

Survivors include her Children: Jerry Cross, Vernal T. Cross, Jr., Margaret Cross, Calvin Cross, Tammy Cross, Dana Cross, Eric Cross, Michael Cross, Verna Cross, Michelle Martinez, Bear Lawrence Cross, and Cheryl Cross all of Kyle, SD; and Norma Cross-Camacho of Alliance, NE; Sister: Lillian Red Star of Lincoln, NE; Adopted Brother: Bruce Nowlin of Albuquerque, NM.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Emil Norman Waters and Rosa Romero; spouse, Vernal Thomas Cross, Sr.; son, Tyler Cross; brothers, Bobby Waters, Alexander Philip Waters, and Maurice Waters; and sisters, Shirley Blunt Horn, Eleanor Waters, and Nellie Two Bulls

A Two night wake service with the first night started at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 3, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Kyle, SD with the second night wake service being held at the Cross Residence in Kyle, SD on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Funeral Services began at 12:00, Noon, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Cross Residence in Kyle, SD.

Father Rick Abert, S.J. officiated.

Traditional Services by Mr. Dave Swallow, Mr. Leonard Crow Dog, Mr. Rick Two Dogs.

Burial at Cross Family Cemetery, Kyle, SD.

Arrangements entrusted with Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD.
